I'm a Senior Platform Engineer at Project Canary, where I lead platform engineering across AWS: infrastructure, reliability, access management, observability, and deployment workflows for production systems. Day to day that means Terraform-based infrastructure, CI/CD, and operating critical data systems like PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB at scale.

Before making the switch to platform engineering, I spent eleven years as a design engineer in the energy industry, creating and presenting design plans for chemical plants and refineries to executive staff and global clients like BP, Shell, Exxon, and Chevron. That work ranged from $50,000 to $1 billion in project scope, on teams of up to 200 people. That background is where I picked up the precision and systems thinking that carried over into infrastructure and software.

I'd rather carry a project from a rough idea through to something real in production than hand off the parts that get interesting, whether that's my day job or something on the side. That's also why I keep reaching for new tools instead of repeating the same kind of work: I rebuilt my family's e-commerce business on a modern stack, architected an AI assistant with its own web, iOS, and Android apps, and shipped an iOS app of my own, plus a handful of others on the projects page.
